ESET offers a reliable anti-malware engine, a useful firewall setting A password manager with forms filling and protection for browsers and a range of network security tools. Its parental control as well as secure browser and anti-theft capabilities are adequate, but nothing exceptional. In contrast to other programs it doesn’t come with a VPN service or microphone protection though it does offer remote screen capture and camera access so you can see what a thief is up to on your mobile or laptop.
The application is designed with an intuitive interface that novices can easily grasp however, it also includes extensive information and features for advanced users. The company also offers excellent support, which can be accessed via their website or directly from the client through a “support” tab which is in the bottom of the application.
We really liked the way that ESET Internet Security shows you the way it’s protecting your computer by showing a status bar near the top of the window and also provides detailed security statistics. The program will alert you on the desktop, in the vicinity of the system tray, when something is happening on your computer.
The antivirus’s antiphishing tools were overly alert and blocked a range of websites that I trusted but weren’t on PhishTank. Also, when we plugged an USB storage device into our laptop the program automatically scanned it, which was a bit irritating since most other antivirus programs request permission to do this.
