Adaware, a product of cybersecurity provider Lavasoft, (formerly known as Ad-Aware) is designed to fight the various types of privacy-related threats and rogue applications of which the majority of users are unaware. Adaware is a suite of programs that monitor your browsing habits, applications that reroute the start page of your browser, and apps that display annoying advertising at the worst times. This free program also offers numerous additional features to improve security and ensure that your device is running efficiently.

Adaware was able to detect the majority of malware that we tossed its way. However, it was unable to assist in eliminating certain malware. The program does have numerous useful extras such as a privacy watcher, an registry scanner, a file shredder, and advanced monitoring of networks. It’s worth noting however, that adaware can’t offer as much security as some of the most popular antivirus programs in the market.

Adaware’s last participation in AV Test lab tests resulted in a blockage of only 95. 4percent of the 0-day risks and 97% of known risks. They’re not terrible however they aren’t as good as the most powerful security suites do.

Adware users who want to work better, should consider the alternatives. We would recommend Kaspersky and Bitdefender that are known for their reliability in real-world tests. Additionally, only Pro and Total plan users receive access to online technical and customer support, which can be a bit disappointing to certain users. The company does provide various information and Frequently Asked Questions on its website, though.
